We had a great day shooting at the lake and then on Red Hill, uploading the shots into the computer to assess the work and to see what digital processing can do for an image.
The emphasis was on understanding Depth of Field and getting the correct exposure, and applying that knowledge to landscape in particular. Because landscape is so good for teaching the fundamentals of photography and being able to take time to shoot and reflect on the results I have revised the next few workshops so we can have another landscape session.
We had quite a range of cameras from top-of-the-range Canons and lenses to simple but sophisticated digital-compacts. So if you are thinking of getting involved don't feel you have to have 'pro' equipment. The idea of these small groups is to help you understand your camera and get better results with what you have. If you want something more fancy I can advise you and the workshops may also be a chance to try some other equipment.
